The Kenya Editors Guild President Zubeida Kananu is demanding an immediate, transparent and independent investigation into the reported abduction of Standard Group editor Alex Kiprotich. Kananu wants the DCI and IPOA to establish what happened and hold accountable those in the command structures who may have ordered the incident. She warns that as Kenya approaches the 2027 elections, attacks on journalists could be aimed at intimidating newsrooms and undermining critical political scrutiny.
