Kenyan celebrity fashion designer Austin Bolo, professionally known as Bolo Bespoke, has taken steps to rescue his marriage from crumbling. The designer faced heavy public backlash after spending long nights partying in clubs while his wife, Ms Mueni, was at home expecting their child.
The Apology and Birthday Vacation
In response to the public outcry and marital tension, Bolo Bespoke launched a rescue mission. He took his wife and children on a luxurious birthday holiday to Mombasa to mend the rift.
Bolo used the opportunity to advise other men on how to handle marital disputes. He shared a post online:
"Let me teach you, boyfriends and husbands, how to apologise to your ladies. Najua mlikua mnagojea niachwe lakini nimejikaza nikaokoa ndoa. We are out for her birthday... nani hajajua location? Nani hajapata M-Pesa?"
"Mkasema ndoa yangu imeharibika eti nashinda juu ya viti kwa Club. Shock on you. We are out for vacation na Mkamba wangu na watoto. Utaambia nini watu? Let's stop the Hate. Let’s spread Love."
A Lavish Beginning to Public Backlash
Bolo Bespoke and Ms Mueni married in a highly publicised, multi-million shilling traditional wedding in September 2024. The couple, who have been together for over nine years, built their fashion brand, Bespoke City, from humble beginnings.
However, their marriage was severely strained in July 2026. Bolo won a high-stakes KSh 2 million football bet against media presenter Oga Obinna. The designer had correctly predicted Spain's victory over Argentina in the FIFA World Cup final.
To celebrate, Bolo ran up a bill of KSh 810,000 on premium alcohol in a single night at a Nairobi club. He shared the receipt and videos of himself dancing shirtless on club chairs on Instagram.
Heavily Pregnant Wife Expresses Frustration
The lavish celebration did not sit well with his heavily pregnant wife. Ms Mueni publicly expressed her anger on social media.
She questioned his spending and behaviour. She wrote online: "Sijafurahia. How can you win 2Million and spend Ksh.810,000 on alcohol?"
She suggested the funds would have been better spent on their household. She added: "Hii bill inatosha good sofa seats ama hata renovation ya hii nyumba."
The public quickly joined the criticism. Many accused Bolo of neglecting his domestic responsibilities to party while his wife prepared to welcome their baby.
Despite the grand gestures and cash transfers, Ms Mueni remains cautious about her husband's long-term behaviour. In response to his post about rescuing the marriage, she expressed skepticism about his future actions.
She commented: "I don't trust him; after my birthday he might get lost for another full week.. tu forgive ama tuendelee na makasiriko?"
The high-profile holiday has temporarily calmed the waters, but the public continues to watch the couple's relationship unfold.
