A proposal to raise the minimum police recruitment grade from D+ to C- has been welcomed as a step towards improving efficiency in the service. Security expert Byron Adera says the higher grade is necessary given the complexity of information handled by police and the level of capacity required. He also supports raising the minimum recruitment age from 18 to 21, saying maturity is crucial in the police service.
