The Consumer Federation of Kenya, COFEC, is calling on the government to urgently restore milk supplies following shortages reported in various retail outlets.COFEC says some retailers have started rationing milk purchases, while prices of the few available brands have risen. The consumer lobby is also urging the National Treasury to immediately waive import duty and VAT on yellow maize, soya and other dairy feed inputs, saying this would help ease pressure on milk production and restore supplies.
