Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is calling for a speedy resolution to the nurses’ strike, now entering its fifth week, as governors take a tougher stance against the health workers. Speaking during the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council meeting this morning, Kindiki tasked the Council of Governors and the SRC with addressing the nurses’ grievances to facilitate the resumption of health services. However, CoG chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi maintains that the strike is illegal and has directed governors to take action against nurses who have defied court orders to return to work.
