Kenya’s societal and community preparedness for the anticipated El Niño rains stands at 70 percent, one month ahead of the expected October rains. Disaster Risk Reduction Manager at the Red Cross, Peter Murgor, says the remaining 30 percent involves helping communities understand the risks, availing resources and planning for evacuation. He adds that the Red Cross is currently 80 percent prepared.
