Detectives in Bungoma arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a 40-year-old man following an alleged dispute arising from a love triangle.
Jackson Simiyu Barasa was attacked and killed at Lukhome Village in Mukuyuni Ward, Bungoma Central Subcounty on Saturday.
Barasa was allegedly attacked by a known man.
Police officers who visited the scene found the deceased’s body at his house, about 300 metres from the alleged scene of attack.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Barasa and the assailant were involved in a confrontation allegedly linked to a love triangle involving a woman.
The deceased had two deep cut wounds on both sides of his head, a fractured right thigh and another cut wound on his left leg, according to police.
The scene was photographed and processed by investigators before the body was moved to Chebukaka Mission Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending an autopsy.
Police said no weapon believed to have been used in the killing was recovered at the scene.
The assailant and the woman at the centre of the saga were arrested and booked into police custody as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing continue.
Detectives are expected to establish the events leading to the confrontation, the role of each suspect and the weapon used in the killing.
Elsewhere, a teacher at St Joseph Senior Secondary School in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County, was found dead under circumstances that have prompted a murder investigation.
The body of Kennedy Kiprotich Bosiben, 35, was discovered at Rironi Stream in Mau Summit Location on Saturday morning.
Police said the body was found half-naked, with his trousers lying about 50 metres away.
The deceased had visible injuries on his face, both legs and hips, while blood was reportedly oozing from his mouth, raising suspicion that he may have been assaulted before his death.
Crime scene investigators photographed, processed and documented the scene before the body was removed.
The remains were taken to Londiani Sub-County Mortuary, where they are being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause and circumstances of his death.
Detectives have launched investigations into the incident and are expected to establish where and when the teacher was attacked and identify those responsible.
Meanwhile, police in Tigania East, Meru County, are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man who was allegedly stabbed during a fight with his elder brother.
The deceased, identified as John Mwenda, a resident of Lanyiru, was found dead in a farm in Lii Village, Muthara Location, on Friday.
Police visited the scene and found Mwenda’s lifeless body with a visible stab wound on the left side of his stomach.
He also had injuries to the right side of his head and right arm.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the injuries may have been sustained during a fight between Mwenda and his elder brother.
The other victim is said to have sustained serious injuries during the confrontation and was reportedly taken to an undisclosed hospital by Good Samaritans.
Police have launched efforts to trace and locate Thuranira, who is being sought to assist investigators in establishing what transpired.
A blood-stained panga, believed to have been used in the attack, was recovered at the scene and taken as an exhibit.
The motive of the alleged fight had not been established by the time of reporting.
Crime Scene Investigation officers documented and processed the scene before Mwenda’s body was moved to the St John of God Mission Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
And police in Igembe South, Meru county, have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was found beside the Maua-Antubochio road.
The body, believed to be that of a man aged about 60 years, was discovered on Friday morning within Maua Location.
According to police, a member of the public reported the incident.
The officers found the lifeless man lying beside the road with visible injuries to the head and right wrist.
Police suspect the man may have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the scene.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed and documented the scene before the body was removed to the Nyambene Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
The identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown as detectives pursue investigations.
