Akothee is showing off her girls again, and this time, the backdrop is Old Trafford. The musician and entrepreneur took to social media to celebrate her daughters, Vesha Okello and Rue Baby, after the pair attended Manchester United's Premier League clash against Ipswich Town over the weekend.
A Message Rooted in Struggle
Akothee's post went far beyond football. She used the moment to reflect on her journey raising her children as a single mother, after being left by their father.
"I built a beautiful future for my children as a single mother. Their father left us for another woman and started a new family, leaving me to figure life out good or bad," she said.
She also opened up about facing judgement from unexpected places.
"I thought the church would be my safe place, but instead, I was judged by the story my ex-husband told about me. He had a voice because he could preach, I was a nobody but just a house wife with no job no education nor a CV to even start looking for a job."
From Struggle to Old Trafford
For Akothee, seeing her daughters enjoying life at one of football's most iconic stadiums was proof of how far the family has come.
"Today, I look at the children I raised—well-groomed, grounded, and brought up knowing God, sitting VVIP at Old Trafford in Manchester, enjoying the life I once only prayed I could give them."
She closed her message with a word of encouragement for other women walking a similar path.
"Single mothers, keep going. Your story is not over."
The Scenes at Old Trafford
The photos accompanying her message capture the pair fully in the moment. In one image, Vesha and Rue Baby stand with their backs to the camera, arms raised toward the stadium's giant screen, each wearing personalised Manchester United jerseys reading "RUE" and "VESHA."
Another photo shows Rue Baby seated pitch-side in her red number 7 shirt, watching the action unfold from a premium seating area overlooking the pitch, while a further shot captures Vesha smiling for the camera, comfortably seated among fellow spectators inside the stadium.
The sisters picked a good day to be at Old Trafford. Manchester United thrashed Ipswich Town 5-2 in what was Michael Carrick's first home game in charge of the club, and United's first Premier League win of the new season.
The Red Devils had opened their campaign with a defeat to newly promoted Hull City, making the result at home an important response.
Akothee is a mother of five, with three daughters, Vesha, Rue Baby, and Fancy Makadia, and two sons. She has been vocal in the past about the challenges of raising her children as a single parent before eventually building her successful music and business career.
