Ojudi was stabbed twice and hacked on the head and shoulder on August 10 at his home in Got Nyapong’ village, Bondo constituency, before the two masked attackers fled, leaving him for dead.
The officer’s burial was marked by full military honours and a 21-gun salute by a contingent of his colleagues from the General Service Unit.
He was mourned as a diligent officer who conducted his duties with dedication, discipline and a focus on results. Ojudi was posted to the GSU headquarters at the time of his death.
Mourners urged authorities to speed up the probe in order to give the family closure on what happened to the officer, at a time when his father, who has been missing since April, is yet to be found.
The father went missing just as he was recovering from an attack by unknown assailants who had earlier raided the family home in unclear circumstances.
The two incidents have deepened anxiety within the family, with relatives calling for investigators to establish whether there could be a connection between the attack on the home, the disappearance of Ojudi’s father and the officer’s eventual killing.
Family members said they were struggling to understand why Ojudi, a serving police officer, would be targeted at his home by armed assailants.
They called for investigators to leave no stone unturned, including establishing the identities and motive of the attackers and whether the assailants knew the officer or had been monitoring his movements.
The family also wants authorities to establish what happened during the earlier attack on their home and trace Ojudi’s father, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
The killing has sent shockwaves through the security fraternity, coming at a time when Ojudi was still serving and had been described by colleagues as committed to his work.
At the burial, colleagues remembered him as a disciplined officer who remained dedicated to his responsibilities and maintained a strong sense of duty.
His death has now left the family demanding answers over an incident that has raised more questions than answers.
The family wants the investigation to go beyond identifying the immediate attackers and establish whether there were people who planned, facilitated or knew about the attack.
Relatives said they were hopeful that a thorough investigation would provide answers and help bring those responsible to justice.
The call for a wider probe came as police investigations into the killing continue, with the circumstances surrounding the attack yet to be fully established.
For the family, however, the search for justice is now intertwined with another unanswered question of the whereabouts of Ojudi’s father.
They want the authorities to pursue both cases with urgency, saying the family deserves to know what happened to the two men.
Ojudi was laid to rest amid prayers and emotional tributes from relatives, friends, colleagues and residents who turned up to bid farewell to the officer.
The gun salute and military honours brought the burial to a solemn close, as his colleagues paid their final respects to a man they described as a committed public servant.
But for his family, the ceremony also marked the beginning of another difficult wait for answers on who killed Ojudi, why he was targeted and where his missing father is.
