Kenyan Zipporah Gitonga has been named among the inaugural FAO 100 Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems and Rural Development, a global recognition celebrating women who are transforming agriculture and rural communities. Gitonga was selected from more than 600 nominations across 131 countries for her leadership, innovation and impact in strengthening agrifood systems and improving rural livelihoods. In a statement, Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe said the recognition highlights the power, leadership and impact of Kenyan women in agriculture and rural development.
