Zambian opposition leader Brian Mundubile has been detained on allegations of treason after going into hiding following his rejection of the recent presidential election results. Official results show President Hakainde Hichilema won the August 13 poll with 60 percent of the vote, against Mundubile’s 38 percent. Security forces later raided a property linked to Mundubile in Lusaka, killing a former cabinet minister and arresting several politicians. The opposition denies allegations of planning an armed insurgency.
