International relations expert Steve Korir says countries associated with international crimes or terrorism may face restrictions, strained relations and, in extreme cases, severed diplomatic ties. He says maintaining a credible national reputation is therefore critical in protecting diplomatic relations and ensuring citizens are treated favourably overseas.
