The Government has reinforced its commitment to tackling plastic pollution at source by advancing sustainable refill and reuse systems. Receiving new policy recommendations, Waste Management and Pollution Control Deputy Director Njoroge Mbitu stated that these measures will complement existing frameworks like the Sustainable Waste Management Act. The proposals advocate for safety standards, deposit-return systems, mandatory reuse targets, and the integration of waste pickers to boost Kenya's circular economy.
