Amnesty International is calling for renewed commitment to Kenya’s Constitution, 16 years after its promulgation. The organisation says political violence has become normalised, while freedom of expression and the right to protest face growing threats. It also faults the government for failing to fully enforce Chapter Six on leadership and integrity. Amnesty wants strict compliance with court decisions, legislation to operationalise Chapter Six and an end to police brutality. President William Ruto on the other hand says no Kenya should lose their life for criticizing the State.
