
A farm worker died after a confrontation over a mobile phone in Tawai village, Wamuini sub-location, Trans Nzoia County, on August 24, 2026.
Detectives based in Kiminini Sub-County arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the death following a chase involving police officers and members of the public.
According to a report lodged at Kiungani Police Station, the deceased, a 22-year-old farm worker, had been engaged a day before the incident.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said a confrontation broke out between the two men on the afternoon of August 24 over a mobile phone.
The dispute later turned into a physical fight.
According to the police account, the suspect struck the farm worker several times during the confrontation.
The worker collapsed during the assault and died at the scene.
Officers who responded to the incident documented visible injuries on the deceased's head, face and stomach, the DCI said.
The suspect remains in police custody as Kiminini detectives complete investigations ahead of arraignment.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kiminini Cottage Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
The DCI did not provide further details on the circumstances that led to the confrontation beyond the account contained in the police report.
