Young people continue to bear the biggest burden of new HIV infections in Kenya. National Syndemic Diseases Control Council CEO Douglas Bosire says 41 percent of new infections recorded in 2025 occurred among adolescents and young people aged 15 to 24. He says when the age bracket is extended to 34 years, young people accounted for 72 percent of new HIV infections, highlighting the need for targeted interventions.
