Kenya recorded a sharp decline in new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths over the past two decades. National Syndemic Diseases Control Council CEO Douglas Bosire says AIDS-related deaths fell from 110,000 in 2005 to 19,000 in 2025, while new HIV infections dropped from 94,000 to 13,936. Bosire says the gains demonstrate progress in the country’s HIV response, particularly in recent years.
