A section of women MPs have condemned DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua over what they describe as a pattern of gender-based political attacks, intimidation and humiliation of women in public life. Led by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, the lawmakers accused Gachagua of making degrading remarks against several women leaders, including Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau. They are demanding an apology from Gachagua and an end to what they call sexist and abusive political language, insisting women leaders should be criticized for their policies and performance not their gender, families or personal circumstances.
