The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) says it has arrested two police officers attached to a Coast regional office over an alleged Sh100,000 bribery demand.

According to EACC, the two officers were arrested on August 24, 2026, during an operation mounted after the Commission received a report concerning the alleged demand.

The Commission said the complainant had reported that the officers were seeking the money after raising concerns about an electricity connection at his residence in Bombolulu.
EACC said the officers allegedly demanded the money in exchange for refraining from further investigations and legal action.

During the operation, the officers allegedly escorted the complainant to a bank along Moi Avenue to collect the money, according to the Commission.
EACC said the officers were later arrested opposite the bank after receiving Sh50,000 from the complainant.
The Commission said investigations had been launched to verify the reported bribery allegations before the operation was conducted.
Following the arrests, the officers were booked at Central Police Station for processing, EACC said.
The Commission said they were later released on Sh30,000 cash bail pending further investigations.
EACC said it remains committed to combating bribery and corruption and ensuring that public officers uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to addressing reports of corruption involving public officers.
EACC said the reported demand followed questions over whether the complainant had illegally connected electricity at his residence.
