The Samburu Council of Elders Association has declared an end to child marriage in Samburu and directed that every child be enrolled and retained in school. Speaking in Samburu Central, patron Richard Leiyagu said keeping children out of school fuels child marriage, FGM and poverty. He warned that anyone involved in marrying off underage girls will face arrest and prosecution, saying offenders can no longer use culture to shield the practice.
