A 26-year-old man was found with a deep cut wound to his chest in an isolated field in the Red Soil area of Kasarani, Nairobi, before he was rushed to a nearby health facility, where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased, identified as Dennis Maina Muthee, was found by good samaritans who reportedly heard him crying for help, police said.
The Samaritans rushed him to Red Soil Prime Healthcare, where they handed him over to medical personnel for treatment.
However, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. An identification document found on him is believed to have confirmed his identity.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, with police yet to establish the motive or determine how the injuries were sustained.
Crime Scene Investigation officers visited and processed the scene. The body was subsequently moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
Nairobi police boss Issa Mohamud said they have launched investigations into the incident and are expected to establish where and how the young man sustained the chest injury.
Elsewhere, a man believed to be about 30 years old was found dead near the gate of Nyali Bridge Hospital in Mombasa.
Members of the public reported the discovery to police, prompting officers from Mjambere Police Station to visit the scene.
Police found the body of an unidentified male adult lying on the ground near the hospital gate.
The man had no visible injuries and appeared to be emaciated, according to police.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was removed and taken to the Coast General Hospital mortuary.
The body is being preserved pending identification and a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police have appealed to anyone who may have information that could help identify the deceased to report to the nearest police station.
