Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe says Kenya will ban pesticides that have been prohibited elsewhere over health and safety concerns. CS Kagwe says the country must not become a dumping ground for harmful chemicals, as the government pushes for harmonised pesticide controls across EAC and COMESA. The Pest Control Products Board says it has withdrawn 77 pesticide products from the Kenyan market following a scientific review, with more products restricted or placed under review.
