Tanzanian businesswoman and socialite Hamisa Mobetto has published a series of emotional statements on social media. She is decrying a sharp rise in online hate, harassment and cyberbullying in Tanzania.

Mobetto, who is a mother of two, shared her struggles directly with her followers on Instagram. She explained that she is speaking out now to protect her own mental health and wellbeing before the pressure becomes too much to bear.

A Plea for Mental Health

In her opening post, Mobetto made it clear that she is reaching her limit. She expressed deep concern over the toll that constant online abuse is taking on her life.

"There is only so much a heart can take.I have come to write here on Instagram because I do not want one day, if it happens that I have reached a stage where I can no longer bear it due to stress and heartbreak, people should not ask 'how did it happen?'"

Mobetto warned that everyone has a breaking point. She urged her followers to understand that public figures are not immune to emotional distress.

"There is a limit to everything. There is a level of pain that a person can endure, and there is only so much that a human heart can carry."

Weekly Harassment Target

Mobetto revealed that the harassment is not a rare occurrence. She stated that she and her family are targeted at least once every single week.

She specifically named online platforms run by media personalities Maimartha and Juma Lokole as the sources of the constant abuse.

"As a mother of two children, it saddens me deeply to see that not even a week passes without me and my family being harassed and bullied on the platforms of Maimartha and Juma Lokole."

Mobetto expressed deep frustration that her hard work as a self-made woman is being overshadowed by public ridicule.

"Regardless of the fact that I am a woman who struggles every day for my family and my children, it has reached a point where this bullying has become too much."

"Bullying is not entertainment. Harassment is not content. And hurting people should never be normalized."

The Cost of 'Content'

The businesswoman strongly criticised online creators who use the personal lives of others to generate traffic and digital engagement. She argued that people are normalising harassment for views, comments and social media growth.

"Behind every screen there is a person with feelings, a family, and their life."

Mobetto added that she is not sharing her story to gain sympathy. Instead, she wants a fundamental shift in how people behave online.

"I only ask, before you make someone's life content or entertainment, remember that your words can leave wounds that you do not see."

A Call to Tanzanian Authorities

To address the repetitive abuse, Mobetto has tagged several prominent accounts in her posts. These include the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), politician and artist Mwana FA, and Baba Keagan.

She hopes that these authorities and public figures will intervene to stop the relentless cycle of bullying.

"Not everything is content. Not everyone deserves to be the topic of your show or the content of your page. There are boundaries that must be respected."

Mobetto concluded with a simple plea for her family's peace.

"I am a mother, I have children who need me, and I am struggling to build my life and raise my family in peace. I only ask to be respected, along with my family."
