President William Ruto on Saturday made an impromptu stop at Kimutwa Centre in Machakos Town Constituency, where he inspected a modern market under construction and engaged traders. 
Ruto interacted with traders before addressing residents at the centre, during his visit to Machakos County. 
The President also addressed residents at Makaveti, where he urged Kenyans to reject political opposition to transformative national projects. 
The Head of State called on Kenyans to reject those who seek to “undermine or blindly oppose transformative national projects for narrow and selfish political interests”.
"The government was completing eight stalled road projects and building seven new ones across Machakos County," he said.
The projects cover a combined 200 kilometres and are being implemented at a cost of more than Sh10 billion, according to Ruto.

Ruto also launched the construction of the 20-kilometre Makaveti-Kyangala-Iuni road in Machakos Town Constituency. 
The road is being upgraded for Sh1 billion. 
His stop at Kimutwa Centre came as he toured the area and inspected ongoing development projects. 
The President’s engagement with traders and residents was part of his visit to Machakos on Saturday. 
Earlier, Ruto attended the African Brotherhood Church (ABC) Women of Faith Congress at Scott Christian University in Machakos Town. 
During the event, he underscored the important role of religious organisations in national transformation.
