The High Court has declared the withdrawal and disarming of Justice Lawrence Mugambi’s security unconstitutional. The court found that the Inspector-General of Police and the Head of the Judicial Police Unit used their powers to punish the judge after he made a decision against them. The court said such actions can intimidate judges handling cases involving the State and undermine judicial independence.
