Detectives are investigating an incident in which a 16-year-old Form Three student died in a suspected electrocution incident at an artisanal mining site in the Nyalgunga area, Migori County. The student reportedly died after entering a gold mine shaft about 150 feet deep at the mining site in Suna West Sub-County. According to preliminary police reports, the student had entered the deep shaft at the artisanal mining site to begin work when he was reportedly electrocuted by a winch used to haul ore from the mine.
