A proposed amendment to the Sports Act seeks to criminalise the manipulation of sports competitions, including match-fixing, bribery, deliberate underperformance and misuse of insider information for betting. The Bill would empower Sports Kenya to receive and investigate suspected cases in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, with investigations required to be completed within six months. It also expands the Sports Disputes Tribunal’s jurisdiction to hear appeals arising from match-manipulation cases.
