The DPP has charged senior Treasury officials, company directors and proprietors over the alleged misappropriation of up to Sh 1.5 billion from the Programme for Rural Outreach of Financial Innovation and Technology, PROFIT. The nine accused persons face a total of 121 counts, including abuse of office, unlawful acquisition of public property, financial misconduct and money laundering, and all pleaded not guilty before Anti-Corruption Magistrate Rose Ndobi. The court granted them varying bond and bail term with the matter set for mention on September 2.
