Businesses have raised concerns over proposed amendments to Kenya’s tobacco control laws, warning that some provisions could increase the cost of doing business and fuel the illicit trade. Stakeholders are particularly opposed to proposed flavour bans and additional county licences for tobacco sellers, arguing that the measures could hurt legitimate businesses, reduce government revenue and amount to double taxation.
