Bradley Marongo, the 8-foot-2-inch viral sensation known as the "Gen Z Goliath," is ready to leave the world of short-form social media behind for the glitz of international cinema.
Speaking on the Mic Cheque Podcast, the 24-year-old revealed a major shift in his career strategy, citing the professional and financial rewards of the film industry.
Why Acting is the New Priority
Marongo, who first gained fame as a bus conductor in Nairobi, now intends to focus primarily on movie acting. While he still values content creation for brand building, he admitted that the financial returns of TikTok do not compare to those of a professional film set.
The Romanian Action Project
Marongo’s transition to the big screen has already taken him across borders. He travelled to Bucharest, Romania, for an action film project in June 2025. The experience was a stark contrast to his usual social media clips, requiring immense patience and multiple takes.
"Movie utashoot karibu take kama 15," Marongo said of the demanding schedule. However, the production faced an unexpected halt. Marongo revealed that regional instability and conflict near the filming location forced the crew to pause operations.
"Nilirudi juu ya vita unajua vita ilikuwa huko ndio tukarudi," he explained.
A Netflix Big League Debut
Beyond Romania, Marongo spent a full month in South Africa working on a massive Netflix production. This project represented a significant step up in scale, featuring a professional crew of approximately 200 people.
The schedule was gruelling, with Marongo working from 10:00 am until 3:00 am daily. "It was production kubwa watu walikuwa wengi," he noted.
The South African film is currently in post-production, but Marongo mentioned that he might need to return for additional scenes as the initial contract period ended before filming was fully completed. The project is currently slated for a late release next year.
From Vihiga to the World
Before his international flight, Marongo lived a humble life selling sweets and working as a conductor in Vihiga and Nairobi. He often slept in vehicles because he lacked a proper home or a bed that could fit his frame.
His life changed when a video of him during national protests went viral, leading to brand deals and now, international movie roles. 
Today, he is managed by a team that includes Frank and others who are helping him navigate his new life as a global actor.
He is even taking English lessons to improve his communication on set as he prepares for his next big role.
