Kenya will require all medicines entering the country to carry a unique global identifier from January 1, 2027, under a government directive aimed at strengthening tracking and verification. Dr Joyce Wamicwe, Technical Lead for Digital Health and Informatics at the Digital Health Agency, said the agency is working with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board to ensure imported medicines are uniquely identified and traceable throughout the supply chain. She spoke during the Kenya Health Summit in Nairobi.
