The Director of Public Prosecutions has approved the prosecution of nine people, including three National Treasury officials and six business proprietors, over alleged misappropriation of Sh1.57 billion from the Programme for Rural Outreach of Financial Innovation and Technologies programme. The decision follows an EACC inquiry file submitted to the DPP. The ODPP said an independent review established sufficient evidence to charge the suspects with abuse of office, unlawful acquisition of public property, financial misconduct, false documentation, acquisition of proceeds of crime and money laundering.
