More than 3,500 members of the Kenyan diaspora gathered in Seattle, Washington, last weekend for a major cultural milestone. The "Country Meets Mugithi" festival brought a taste of home to the United States.
The event featured some of Kenya’s most popular musical talents and high-profile personalities.
A Night of High Energy
The festival was headlined by Mugithi star Samidoh Muchoki, alongside country singer Sir Elvis and KarehB. Media personality Jeff Koinange also joined the line-up, adding to the star-studded atmosphere.
Fans travelled from across the region to witness the fusion of country music and traditional Mugithi rhythms.
Edday Nderitu, who was in attendance, took to social media to share her excitement about the night. She was particularly impressed by the performance delivered by Samidoh, whom she referred to by his nickname.
Community Spirit in Seattle
Beyond the music, Edday highlighted the warm reception she received from the Kenyan community in Washington State. She expressed deep gratitude for the hospitality of the locals.
"Watu wa Seattle nawapenda sana!" she shared in her post. She further explained how the environment made her feel comfortable despite being far from Kenya.
"The love and kindness I’ve received here is truly on another level. I feel so welcomed, appreciated, and loved."
She added that the city provided a sense of belonging that resonated with her personally. "Seattle has a way of making you feel right at home," she noted. "I honestly feel like I’m home."

The event was not just about the music. It also produced a viral sensation that took social media by storm. Attendees spotted a local man who bore an uncanny resemblance to the former Kenyan Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.
