There was drama outside Jogoo House, the office of Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, after human rights activist Julius Kamau chained himself to the premises’ gate, demanding the IG’s resignation. Kamau accused Kanja of failing to take action against alleged human rights violations affecting Kenyans. He maintained that the police leadership should be held accountable for protecting citizens’ rights. Police officers later unchained Kamau and whisked him away in a waiting police vehicle.
