Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami wants the government to introduce mandatory, structured and time-tabled guidance and counselling programmes in all public and private primary and secondary schools. Mukami says learners are increasingly facing drug abuse, indiscipline, domestic violence, sexual abuse and other challenges affecting their mental wellbeing and academic performance. She is also calling for professionally trained school counsellors and better child protection referral systems.
