MPs have backed the Employment Amendment Bill sponsored by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, saying it will help end punitive and arbitrary transfers of workers. The legislators say the proposed law will also protect the family unit by preventing sudden transfers that separate employees from their spouses and children. The Bill requires employers to give reasons for transfers and obtain the employee’s consent before effecting the move.
