Civil society organisations in Mombasa have declined an invitation by Governor Abdulswamad Nassir to discuss the controversial development at the historic Treasury Square Garden, saying the dispute is now before the courts and should be addressed through the judicial process. The Coast Civil Society Network for Human Rights said it would not attend a meeting convened by the governor that had been scheduled for this afternoon. The CSOs argued that any engagement outside the court process would be inappropriate while the dispute is pending before the Environment and Land Court.
