Kalondu Musyimi, the Mpasho digital broadcaster, has been announced as the red-carpet host for The Denri Africa Runway Fashion Event 2026, set for Saturday, 29 August, at The Edge Convention Centre.
Her name features prominently on the event poster, a sign of just how sought-after her presence has become on Kenya's high-end event circuit.
A Familiar Face on the Carpet
For Kalondu, this is far from new territory. Over the past two years, she has hosted the red carpet at some of the continent's most talked-about events, among them Africa Forward, the UFS Boxing Event, TikTok Awards South Africa 2025, the Africa Golden Awards 2025, the Kenya Tourism Awards 2025, the Grand Fashion Awards, and the FEMA Awards.
Her Instagram bio sums up her multiple roles neatly, describing herself simply as: "Your RedCarpet Host."
From Behind the Camera to In Front of It
Kalondu's journey into broadcasting did not begin with a microphone.
She started her media career behind the camera as a photography assistant before moving into broadcasting. Her early break came on radio, where she introduced a gossip-driven segment that quickly earned attention for its humour and relatability.
That format would go on to shape the interviewing style she remains known for today.
At Mpasho, she has become widely recognised for her "quick-fire" celebrity interviews, a format that regularly goes viral online. The approach strikes a chord with younger audiences, blending entertainment news with a conversational, unfiltered tone.
Recognition Beyond the Carpet
Kalondu's work has not gone unnoticed by her industry peers. In May 2026, she was named Top African Showbiz Reporter of the Year at the Africa Golden Awards, beating out several established continental media figures for the title.
Beyond red-carpet hosting, Kalondu has also expanded into television. She currently hosts Club 1 Xtra, a music show on KBC, every Friday from 4 pm. Speaking on the rebrand of the show, she explained her approach to balancing legacy with her own identity.
"Respecting the legacy is crucial because I cannot ignore what came before me."
She added that she wanted the show to still feel familiar to long-time viewers while carrying her personal touch:
"It's a balance of making sure the show feels familiar but unmistakably Kalondu."
