MPs are considering a Bill sponsored by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa seeking to curb arbitrary transfers of employees, particularly in the public service. The Employment Amendment Bill would require employers to give workers reasons for a proposed transfer, explain its impact on their contracts and outline any measures to be taken. Crucially, employers would also need an employee’s consent before effecting a transfer, helping protect workers and families from sudden relocations.
