The National Treasury is seeking views from Kenyans and stakeholders on the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill II, 2026, proposing to exempt workers earning below Sh30,000 from PAYE. Treasury CS John Mbadi said public participation will run for one month before the ministry submits the proposed amendments to Parliament. The proposal seeks to raise the tax-free income threshold from Sh24,000 to Sh30,000 and personal relief from Sh2,400 to Sh3,000.
