Kenya Power has called for a careful balance in integrating Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) sources such as wind and solar into the national grid. The company says fluctuations in renewable generation can affect power supply reliability and quality by disrupting frequency and voltage levels. It says the renewable sources currently account for more than 34 percent of total energy demand, exposing the grid to vulnerabilities when wind and solar output suddenly rises or falls.
