Comedian and radio presenter MCA Tricky has finally opened up about the end of his tenure at Milele FM. Speaking on the Tubonge podcast with his former co-host, Chris the Bass, the entertainer clarified the circumstances of his departure after six years at the station.
MCA Tricky, whose real name is Francis Munyao, served at Milele FM from June 2020 to June 2026. While initial reports suggested he had resigned, the comedian clarified the situation during the interview. He revealed that his exit was not a personal choice to walk away.
The Germany Opportunity
The trouble began when Tricky secured a three-month engineering exchange programme in Germany. As a trained mechatronics engineer, he viewed the research opportunity as a "golden" chance to advance his professional studies and finish his master’s degree.
To facilitate this, he requested a temporary break from his radio duties.
"I requested for an unpaid leave. I was very clear. I even gave the invitation letter that is making me travel," Tricky claimed.
He believed his further education would eventually bring more value to his employer.

However, Tricky claimed that the station's management did not share his perspective for long. While he was away pursuing his studies, the communication from the station changed. Tricky described the moment he realised his job was gone.
“I don’t know why the media chose to say that I walked away, but let me be honest, I did not walk away, they fired me… I woke up to an email that the company is losing money because of my absence."
Despite the sudden termination, the comedian stated he holds no bitterness toward the institution.
He acknowledged that radio is a business and respected the company's decision. He expressed gratitude for the six years he spent at the station, noting he was not the first person to lose a job.
Lessons on Employment
The experience has shaped Tricky’s outlook on the modern workplace. He cautioned his fans against becoming too comfortable in traditional employment.
He emphasized the importance of having "Plan B, C, and D" in life to navigate such storms.
"The most stupid thing to do in this world is to have 100% trust in something called an employer. But I have no hard feelings, first of all, I felt gratitude because Milele FM is the one that has employed me for the longest – 6 years.”

Future Outlook
Tricky is currently focusing on his engineering research and new media projects. He remains a firm believer in the power of education to sustain a career in the long term.
"Talent opens doors but education keeps them open," he remarked. He is now preparing to launch his own media platform this October, which he describes as a "media kind of channel" aimed at inspiring young innovators and engineers in Kenya.
