A three-year-old girl died after falling from the balcony of a third-floor building in Uthiru, Nairobi.
The child reportedly fell from the balcony of a building on Thursday while playing with other children.
According to police, the girl sustained serious head injuries in the fall and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.
She later died at about 8pm while undergoing treatment.
Police said the incident was reported on Friday by the child’s mother, a resident of Uthiru Genesis.
The child’s body was preserved at Kenyatta National Hospital pending a postmortem examination.
Elsewhere, a five-year-old child has died after falling from the eighth floor of a building in Kware, Embakasi, Nairobi.
The incident occurred at Paris Plaza on Friday evening, police said.
Police rushed to the scene and found the boy lying on the ground.
The child was reportedly bleeding from the mouth and ears and was rushed to St Claire Hospital in Kware, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Investigation team from Embakasi, after which the body was moved to Mama Lucy Hospital Funeral Home for preservation pending further investigations.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.
Elsewhere, an 18-year-old woman was found dead outside her father’s house in Ariamawoi Village, Isiolo County, in a suspected murder incident linked to a boundary dispute.
Police said Adoro Ngolong, 18, was preparing supper at her parents’ home shortly after midnight when she stepped out to borrow salt from her grandmother’s house a few metres away.
Her parents reportedly heard a thud outside their house a short while later.
When they went to investigate, they found their daughter lying motionless on the ground.
Police officers, accompanied by detectives and crime scene investigators, visited the scene and found the deceased lying on her back.
She had an apparent injury to the left side of her forehead, which police suspect was inflicted with a blunt object.
Mucus was also reportedly oozing from her nose.
The motive for the killing had not been established, although police suspect it could be connected to a boundary dispute between the deceased’s parents and a 33-year-old man.
Police said an assistant chief had previously attempted to resolve the dispute, but the suspect was allegedly dissatisfied with the outcome and had threatened to take unspecified action against the deceased’s father and his family.
Crime scene investigators documented the scene before the body was moved to the Isiolo County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending autopsy.
The suspect was arrested and taken to Isiolo
Police Station, where he is being held pending arraignment, police said.
