The officer, who was based in Nakuru, was driving his personal car when it was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry near Annex, about two kilometres from Eldoret on the Nakuru highway.

According to a police report, the lorry, which was heading towards Eldoret, hit a bump, lost control and veered into the opposite lane before colliding with the car.

The military officer sustained head injuries and was rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two other people, a man and a woman who were passengers in the lorry, sustained injuries and were rushed to the same hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

The lorry landed in a roadside ditch after colliding with the Toyota Fielder that was being driven by the military officer.
