Sugar farmers will elect five regional grower directors to the Kenya Sugar Board on September 5 under the Sugar Act 2024. Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe says the elections will fully operationalize the board and strengthen reforms in the sector. He also announced stricter licensing rules for new sugar factories, pledged to clear the remaining KSh265 million owed to farmers, and promised continued support for the industry.
