A 17-year-old Form Three student died after he was electrocuted while operating a chaff cutter machine at his family's home in Tharaka-Nithi County.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Kiini Village, Muthambi Sub-County.
According to police, the teenager, a student at Muraga Senior School, was cutting Napier grass for the family's cattle when he was fatally electrocuted while operating the machine.
Police officers visited the scene and found the body lying on the floor inside a cattle shed.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Chuka Level 5 County Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
In a separate incident, a 16-year-old boy died after he was electrocuted by a live electrical wire at his family's home in Mumias East Sub-County, Kakamega County.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Mulukoba Village in Isongo Sub-location.
According to police, members of the public alerted authorities that the teenager had been electrocuted by exposed live wires within the homestead.
Police officers and officials from Kenya Power visited the scene and found the body of Moses Atsulu Were lying on the ground.
Preliminary investigations established that the boy accidentally touched a live wire connected within the compound and was fatally electrocuted.
Crime scene officers processed and documented the scene before Kenya Power disconnected the electricity supply to prevent further danger.
The body was moved to St. Mary's Mission Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal electrocution.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man drowned while swimming in River Nyando in Nyakach Sub-County, Kisumu County.
The victim, identified as Fred Oriko, was grazing cattle with a friend along the river.
Police said Oriko entered the river to swim but was apparently overpowered by the strong current.
He drowned and his body disappeared beneath the water before any rescue could be mounted.
Police officers visited the scene and confirmed the incident. The body was retrieved a day later.
Police said further information will be provided once the recovery operation is concluded.
In Isiolo County, a 25-year-old herdsman was shot dead by unknown attackers in an apparent livestock theft incident in Eldera, Garbatulla Sub-County.
Police said the incident occurred at about 9am on Tuesday at the Qurri grazing field, where the victim, identified as Idle Abdi, was herding livestock.
The attackers fatally shot the herdsman before making away with about 400 goats and sheep he had been tending.
The victim's body was collected by family members and buried in accordance with Islamic rites before police arrived.
A security team conducted patrols in the area in an effort to recover the stolen livestock and pursue the attackers.
No arrests had been made by the time of filing the report, and investigations are ongoing.
