The Linda Mwananchi movement will this weekend tour Kakamega
county as it steps up grassroots mobilisation and seeks to consolidate support
ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The two-day tour comes barely two weeks after the movement, led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, held rallies in Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties as it seeks to establish itself as a major opposition force.
The delegation will include Sifuna, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, among other leaders.
Osotsi said the movement would visit eight constituencies during the tour, with the remaining four to be covered later.
"The tour is meant to encourage people from the region to join the movement and unveil aspirants. Our team in Kakamega is finalising the programme," he said.
He described the visit as a continuation of the movement's recent rallies across Western Kenya, saying Linda Mwananchi had already held public meetings in Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties.
According to Osotsi, the movement has so far toured 19 of the country's 47 counties and plans to hold rallies in every constituency as it builds support ahead of the next election.
The renewed mobilisation comes as opposition parties intensify efforts to strengthen their political structures and expand their national presence before the campaign season gathers momentum.
Osotsi also welcomed an invitation by the Azimio One Kenya Coalition to join a broader opposition alliance but said Linda Mwananchi's immediate priority was to strengthen its own political base.
"We want to build Linda Mwananchi into a formidable movement and then identify our presidential candidate, after which we will engage. We are not dismissing the invitation, but we shall engage when the time comes," he said.
On Monday, Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka said Azimio was in talks with the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), the People's Liberation Party (PLP) and the Linda Mwananchi movement as it seeks to broaden the coalition ahead of the 2027 polls.
"We wish them well as they push for the registration of Linda Mwananchi as a political party," Kalonzo said.
The movement has also received backing from the Luhya Elders Forum, which endorsed Sifuna for the presidency under a united opposition.
Forum vice-chair Noah Wekesa said the elders believe Sifuna has built support across the country and is well placed to join other opposition leaders seeking the presidency.
