This is not the first time Akinyi has made a major change to her public profile. On 3 November 2024, she announced a significant name change. She decided to drop her stage moniker to rebrand using her birth name, Vanessa Akinyi.
The name is also occasionally spelled as "Vanexxa." At the time of the rebranding, she expressed a desire to reconnect with her roots and her personal identity.
This shift also marked a change in her career path. She began to move away from standard comedy skits to focus more on her music.
Personal Challenges and Changes
The announcement of her exit follows several months of personal upheaval. In early February 2026, Akinyi and her partner officially confirmed their separation.
Her partner, the Nigerian creator Rotimi of Africa, had been the subject of breakup speculation for several months. The couple had previously been engaged.
The relationship also saw the birth of a child in late 2025. Despite these milestones, the pair decided to end their partnership earlier this year.
