Radio Africa Group visited Kakamega on Friday, drawing large crowds as it hosted the popular Gidi na Ghost Asubuhi breakfast show in the town.
Fans gathered at Taxi Square near Equity Bank along Kenyatta Avenue from as early as 5:00 am to catch a glimpse of their favourite Radio Jambo presenters.
The programme hosted Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa as the special guest during the morning breakfast show. He was received by Radio Africa Group Regional Marketing Manager for Eldoret, Vivian Omukunda.
Among those in attendance was Radio Jambo fan Richard Mukhobero, who cycled from Eldoret to attend the event in his home county of Kakamega.
Mukhobero said he has been a fan of Radio Jambo since its inception and has no plans to switch, describing programmes such as Patanisho as people-centred.
“I have been attending each and every event that is organised by Radio Jambo within the Lake Region and this was not going to be an exception,” he said.
“I love Radio Jambo because its programmes, such as Patanisho highlights real issues that affect People at the grassroots,” he added.
Mukhobero said he has been cycling to the company's events across Western and Nyanza, adding that he believes the station provides a useful platform for ordinary wananchi to express themselves.
Another fan, Olvin Kageha, said the station's programmes were educative.
Radio Africa Group later held a roadshow across the county, visiting Shamberere and Mumias town.
Barasa appreciated the role played by the media in keeping the public informed about current affairs.
