Virtual asset service providers have welcomed the draft Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) Regulations, saying upon their implementation they will play a key role in helping Kenya exit the Financial Action Task Force grey list. Isack Wabuge from Yellow Card said the sector supports the proposed framework but called for a review of some provisions, including the co-capital requirements. He also welcomed the requirement for regular reporting by virtual asset service providers, saying it will strengthen efforts to curb money laundering, terrorism financing, and other illicit financial activities.
